The lights stayed on

In 1934 an earthquake brought much of this city down. In 1951 Rana rule ended. In 1956 a road finally reached the valley, and people stopped carrying cars.

Much of what you walked through can still be visited: the temples, the stupa, the pond. The rest survives in glass plates, and in the Gorkhapatra, which is still printed today.
